When you have a personal or business legal issue and it can't be resolved by talking or writing to the other side, then a court may be needed. So what do you do? What is civil litigation?
When you have to file a lawsuit, or you have to defend a lawsuit over a personal or business matter, you are involved in civil litigation. You may need professional help with the filing of the Petition or other court documents, and obtain legal service of the Summons to start your case. You may need help to get the court to force the other side give you information you need. You will have to make motions and objections to things that happen in court, and you may have to answer legal motions. Ultimately, there can be a trial before the judge if the parties cannot come to some other resolution.
